Evacuation Chair FAQ
For obvious reasons, we are asked a lot of questions about our tracked evacuation chair. Here, we hope to answer a few of them. If you have a question that is not answered below, why not get in touch?
Can the evacuation chair be used by a single operator?
Yes the chair is designed for single operator use, but evacusafe recommend for best practice that at least two people are available, one can then assist, open doors, reassure the client and check ahead.
What comes with the chair?
Each chair comes complete with a long lasting protective cover, hooks to hang the chair on the wall, full instruction manual, a wall sign and instructional CD/DVD. See a full specification of the evacuation chair here.
Are training courses available for the evacuation chair?
Yes, evacusafe offer two types of evacuation chair training,
Basic Operator training lasts an hour and contains some basic theory and a short practical session.
Key Train the Trainer course. Lasting around 2.5 hours, this course teaches the delegate to a standard whereby they can deliver their own in-house training. It uses theory, risk assessment, looks at the people likely to be affected and situations that may require the evacuation of a building. It has a video and a more advanced practical session. All delegates receive a full training pack and copies of presentations and instruction CD.
Can you come to our business to carry out the training?
Evacusafe will come to any location in the UK and Ireland. We can also deliver the training at any worldwide location though this may require a bit more time to organise.
What type of staircase can the chair be used on?
Nearly all internal staircases are suitable including, metal, wooden, concrete, carpeted, hardwood and stairs with nosings and protectors. Also a mild spiral should pose no problems. If you are not sure or just want some advice, give us a quick call or email us, we will be happy to help and advise.
What about maintenance?
The evacuation chair is a low maintenance piece of equipment. Basically it requires a quick lubrication every six months with WD40 / 3in1 Oil or similar. We do not offer expensive service contracts or ask you for maintenance agreements. We even provide you with a maintenance checklist (look in our downloads section)
What guarantee is there with the chair?
Each chair comes with a standard lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. In addition should you have a problem with the chair, in most circumstances we will normally send out a replacement and collect yours at the same time so you are never left without a chair to cover your premises.
Do you do demonstrations?
Yes, we can usually come to your premises to carry this out. We are so confident in our chair that we can even send you a chair on approval with full operating instructions, try it out for yourself, if you like it you keep it and we will invoice you. If you decide against or are finished trying it out, we will arrange for it to be collected FREE OF CHARGE. We also have a video demonstration on the website.
